Museum Liaunig

The museum Liaunig is owned by the industrialist and art collector, business graduate Herbert W. Liaunig. The museum in Neuhaus/Carinthia opened in the end of August, 2008. The new museum houses Liaunig’s collection of contemporary art and – as an interesting contradiction – a collection of gold objects of the Akan.

Herbert W. Liaunig: „This fulfills a long-cherished wish of our family - to create an appropriate ambience for our collections. As the currently only place that offers a permanent exhibition about the Austrian post-war era, this museum closes a great gap in the Austrian museum landscape.

The museum is closed in the winter period (1st November – 30 April 2012) and is opened from the 1st May to 31st October 2012 with a brand new exhibition for all interested people. For larger groups we recommend an appointment. There are daily several (Wednesday to Sunday) guided tours. Children older than 12 years are welcome!

The municipal Neuhaus offers another interesting attraction besides the water trail in Pudlach. In 1992 in the village of Bach, the old Patek-mill, a watermill from the 19th century was brought back up running. The mill, which is located in the middle of the town, is the destination for many hikers and guests who want to experience how the grain becomes flour like in ancient times. The clear mountain water flows on a cable channel (about eighty meters long and three meters high) to the water wheel made out of larch wood. So the old mill starts motioning when creaking and rattling.

Vitality water (Kneipp-oasis):

During guided tours the texts are discussed in more detail as well as applications are demonstrated. There is also the opportunity to exist a few demonstrated applications. Learn to know the healing power of water, earth and body!
